Andy and I had been running pretty steady since the beginning of February. Our goal for this year is to run at least 2 half marathons (13 miles each) and run the Reno/Tahoe Odyssey. This is a relay race consisted of 12 people on a team and each person runs three legs covering a total of 178 miles. The race begins on Friday, 5/29 and ends sometime on Saturday afternoon. Andy’s ended up with the 11th leg and has to run a total of 19 miles! I will be doing the 12th leg covering 15.6 miles.

Last weekend we completed our first half marathon for the year- the Santa Cruz Half Marathon. We chose this location because it was along the coast, lower elevation and Rob said we could stay at his mom’s beach house so of course that gave us an extra push (thanks Jeff and Libby!). We had amazing weather and the run was really beautiful right along the coast. Our goal for this race was to beat our last half marathon time by 2 minutes which would mean doing the entire race in under 2 hours. Well we did it is 1:59:46 so we completed our goal just in the nick of time! You can check out the results here: http://results.active.com/pages/displayNonGru.jsp?orgID=218713&rsID=76879. Notice that I beat Andy by 3 seconds! To be fair he could have totally gotten a better time if he didn’t run with me, but he was nice enough to stay. So I totally had to sprint in front of him at the end 🙂
